![]() ![]() Needless to say, the publisher wanted more. ![]() " The Coldest Winter Ever" was one of the best-selling novels of 1999 and has since sold more than a million copies. Its heroine, Winter Santiaga, the pampered daughter of a Brooklyn drug kingpin, uses her feminine wiles and hustler mentality to survive after her father's empire suddenly comes crashing down. In 1999, Sister Souljah published her first novel, " The Coldest Winter Ever," considered by some to be the mother of what's been called urban or street fiction and its first classic. (Brian Velenchenko/Atria/Emily Bestler Books) Sister Souljah's "Life After Death," a follow-up to her 1999 bestseller "The Coldest Winter Ever," is a sequel 22 years in the making. ![]()

But skeletons can only remain hidden for so long and as Willows time in the private faculty winds to a close, she begins to doubt her surety that Simon’s with her for more than the sex. Kent amped up the heat with each secret meeting between Willow and Simon. Medicine Man centers around the relationship between a therapist and his patient. Furthermore, I knew going into Medicine Man that the story would be a well written, sexy read. Kent and it surely won’t be my last! She has an immense talent for writing romances surrounding taboo relationships-such talent that regardless of the taboo nature of the romance, you are rooting for the characters. Medicine Man isn’t my first book by Saffron A. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() She says, “For the believer wanting to know God’s will for her life, the first question to pose is not ‘What should I do?’ but ‘Who should I be?’” She goes on to say, “God is always more concerned with the decision-maker than he is with the decision itself.” She continues, “The hope of the gospel in our sanctification is not simply that we would make better choices, but that we would become better people.” So how do we “become better people” in a gospel-centered way? Jen says, “… the Bible’s answer to ‘Who should I be?’ is ‘Be like the very image of God,’ we must ask, ‘Who is God?’” We become “better people” as we behold God and seek to imitate our Father in Heaven, by the Holy Spirit’s help. Jen begins by acknowledging a question that rises in the lives of most every follower of Christ at one point or another, What is God’s will for my life? But instead of drilling down to the details of do this, don’t do that, Jen instructs us to a broader perspective. Even though we may be a bit biased, it doesn’t take a fan to acknowledge the depth of wisdom and insight included in this small volume. It’ll come as no surprise to you to hear that we were chomping at the bit to pick up her newish (it released in April of this year) book, In His Image, and dive into its truth-laden pages. ![]() If you’ve spent any time around the Lifeway Women Blog, you’ve likely picked up on the fact that we are big fans of Jen Wilkin. The whole disaster that followed might have been averted if another boy had not gone and sucked up what was left of the witch’s power, leaving her too weak to switch back again. Unfortunately they overshoot, switching right out of Karibu and drawing an ordinary Zimbabwean boy into the vacuum they leave behind them. Of all the dubious magic tricks they know, they choose a risky ‘switch’ they’ve been working on, to escape from somebody lurking in the forest. Trouble is brewing in the secret African rift valley of Karibu and Gogo Maya, the witch, and her leopard are about to make matters worse. Switch!
